"Easy to make, good to drink" the JULIUS MARCUS CO., this is an original ENCORE Root Beer extract free jig-saw puzzle....still sealed in the original advertising envelope!...(this piece was acquired from an old drug store estate in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area of Pa....).... ....The envelope is approx. 8/1/2" by 10-1/2"....(the scan is at actual size...)....the advertising copy & graphics are for "ENCORE Root Beer Extract"...which the company claims..."can produce 20 full quart size bottles of soda for less than $.02-1/2 per quart".... ...The Julius Marcus Company was very proactive in the 1920's in order to preserve their share of the market as bottled soda becmae increasingly popular...(They were one of 300 major companies to sponsor national radio broadcasts in 1922..)...this "FREE" premium give-away was another advertising plan to increase sales of their soda extracts... ...The puzzle is a "100+ piece" jigsaw puzzle of a parrot in full color...(note the print on the bottom of the enevelope..."Wise Polly...over 100 pieces"..)
