"Makes Thirst a Joy"
From the Waco Tribune:

Sunday, October 28, 2007

Fans of Triple XXX Root Beer now have a source for the product they crave — the Dr Pepper Museum at 300 S. Fifth St.

Despite its Texas roots, no local retailers have carried Triple XXX for years. But the Dr Pepper Museum made a deal with a bottler in Chicago, and now it will offer singles, six-packs and cases in the gift shop.

Triple XXX was first brewed in 1895 by the Galveston Brewing Company, whose chemist developed an array of flavors.

In 1916, the company name was changed to the Southern Beverage Company. Its licensed distributors included about 150 Triple XXX bottlers and about 100 Triple XXX “thirst stations,” or root beer drive-ins. Waco had two of these stations.

Triple XXX was available in syrup form in Waco in recent years, but Dr Pepper Museum executive director Jack McKinney said it’s not been available locally in bottles “for 10 or 15 years.”
