Vint Hill Farms Station

Warrenton, VA

"Originally farmland located near Warrenton, Va., in Fauquier County, Vint Hill Farms Station was acquired by the Army in 1942. During and after World War II, the Signal Corps post became one of the Army's most important intelligence-gathering operations and trained radio-intercept operators, cryptanalysts, and radio-repair technicians. The installation's mission focus changed in 1974, when it shifted toward research, development, and logistical support of intelligence and electronic warfare. It was placed on the Base Realignment and Closure list in 1993." -- From Army News
