"Natural flavors" does not imply traditional or endemic. Since natural versions of many flavor chemicals are available, a manufactured can start with an all artificial recipe and later change to natural versions of the same chemicals just so that they can put "natural flavors" on the label. Natural chemicals are isolated from natural sources. For example, castoreum is isolated from beaver anus. See

You probably wouldn't regard it as a "true root beer" but there is no way to tell. If you want something done your way, you have to do it yourself.
