Any other fans of 1919 root beer out there? It is (was?) brewed by the August Schell Brewing Company, New Ulm, Minnesota, USA. http://www.schellsbrewery.com/contactus.php I hope they still make it, there is no mention of it on their web site. 1919 is deep and rich, with a well-rounded flavor. They don't put it in bottles or cans, you have to find it on tap or buy it in bulk packages (2.25 gallons & up). Southern Minnesota is the best place to look for 1919. You can find a few distributors on the web.

Thank you for the detailed information, chickenrob! My grandfather also preferred Vernors. |

As of February 2008, I've now found 1919 available in 5-liter pony kegs, costing about $20. This is such happy news, that I carried one home on my bicycle, nearly breaking my back. The root beer made it all worth it, though. |

Yes, any liquor store in the Twin Cities area can order the pony keg for their customers. The store just needs to contact the brewery in New Ulm. |

Newb here.
I'm doing a project on 1919 root beer for school. Only problem is, I live in Georgia!
Anyone here know of a way to get a hold of this stuff? If anyone has any contacts or tips, I'd really appreciate it!
I know this topic is a little old, but I figure it's worth a shot.

1919 is only sold cold. So unless it's packed in dry ice, you probably won't find any locally in georgia.
I can get it at the local grogery store in a 5L pony keg for $17. But i'm not really wanting to be responsible for dry ice. |

Go to their website and contact them. They will then e-mail you how to pay and get the mini keg shipped to your door.
Thanks Kink |
