Ingredients

2 1/2 c Sugar 
3 tb Root beer extract 
1 tb Dry yeast 
Lukewarm water

  Carbonation with yeast can cause extreme pressure (think champagne cork) and can even cause some containers (like milk jugs) to explode.

In a gallon jug with a tight-fitting lid, combine sugar, root beer extract and yeast. 
Add enough lukewarm water to fill gallon jug. 
Mix well. 
Let stand at room temperature for 6 hours.
Place in refrigerator overnight or until completely chilled.
