I plan on tapping some birch trees in the spring. Anyone have any advice on using birch sap in root beer as well as any hints or tricks on the tapping process itself?
Birch beer was made from the sap of Black Birch, not Paper Birch.
I bought some Paper Birch syrup and it tastes similar to molasses except slightly sour. Fine for pancakes, but I wouldn't put it in root beer.
