Ultra Foods in Forest Park, IL is selling 2 liter plastic bottles of Faygo Root Beer for $0.68 . I am amazed that the empty bottle costs the manufacturer less than that. After all, I can make root beer, but I can't make the bottle.

See http://www.faygo.com/

So, you tasted it and spat it out?

I'm going to add stuff to it in hopes of making it taste better.

If you want Faygo to taste better, I would suggest dumping it out and filling the bottle with any other brand...lol

I admit, I've only had it once, but it was way too sweet, artificial tasting and went flat immediately.

"Too sweet" was not a problem because I only drink diet root beer and aspartame is more expensive than sugar or high fructose corn syrup therefore almost every soda manufacturer pinches pennies by making their diet soda less sweet than their non-diet counterparts.

I added vanillin and sassafras oil to Faygo diet root beer and that certainly tasted better than Mug diet root beer which tastes like bubble gum to me. I will probably do it again. I would prefer to modify $0.68 Faygo Cream Soda, but they didn't have the diet version.

Well..

If you mix half Faygo Root Beer with half of any Orange pop/soda it'll make it taste better. What you get is "Swamp Water"!

$41???? plus shipping, I can buy 41 2 liters for that price.

It's a cool idea. but the question was what's the cheapest root beer.

The same effect can be had for less than $2.
2 empty 2 liters
1 bottle of vinegar
1 box of baking soda
2 bottle caps with a tube connecting the two.

Place a few cups of whatever you want carbonated in one of the 2 liters (juice, milk, water & extract whatever) Squeeze bottle of your preferred drink so all the liquid comes to the top and screw on one end of the caps.

In the other bottle place a few cups of vinegar and drop in a 1/4 cup of baking soda. best if placed in a tube to fit into the bottle. Connect the other cap to this bottle. Shake vinegar/baking soda mix.

Watch as the first bottle carbonates and bulges out.

Open cap and enjoy.
