Found an old pale green glass bottle on the beach yesterday [we're in southeastern Alaska], which at first I thought was a Coke bottle, but upon investigating the stampings, etc. it appears to be an old soda pop or root beer bottle, manufactured by Illinois Pacific Glass Co. in 1927. The patent date "Mar 7 1922" molded around the shoulder seems to refer to the "Reliance" trademark of the Langley & Michaels Co. of San Francisco, and is for the sirups used in making soft drinks. A Coca-Cola bottling company was used, as indicated by text molded around the heel. 6 1/2 fluid oz - we'd barely consider that one swig nowadays, eh?

However, I've been unable to identify who used the logo stamped on each side of the shoulders of the bottle - what appears to be a wheat wreath with a scythe in the center. ?? Should I try to post a photo, or does someone instantly recognize which company's logo this was 80 years ago? I wondered if it might be a brewery that had turned to soft drinks during Prohibition...

There's also a big squarish letter "C" molded into the base, if that signifies anything.

Hoping this rings a bell with someone...
Chris

Interesting...but it doesn't sound familiar.
