I live in an old industrial neighborhood in Chicago, inside a converted loft building that everyone refers to as "The Soda Pop". Back in the day, the building was Burkhardt Inc., and I believe they bottled soda here. I'm trying to find out more about the company--the brands that were bottled here, whether the adjoining building, which city fire insurance records show to be "A & W Ho", is connected to A&W root beer, and ultimately, if there might be any shady or interesting history during Prohibition (rumor has it this neighborhood was Al Capone's distribution hub.)

I realize this might not be the right forum, but if anyone has info or suggestions where I might find out more, please e-mail me!

I think that they closed in the late 70's or early80's. I used to buy their pop at an outlet of their's at Irving Park Rd. & Cumberland right on the edge of Chicago. They had all sorts of flavors,I remember that their ginger ale was pretty good,I don't remember the root beer, must not have been too memorable.
Since you are on the south side, you have to go to Filbert's on Ashland Ave. The root beer is great & so are the other flavors,& the Filbert family
are very cool people.
