I have read a few forum messages on a home beer brewing site talking about reusing the Miller Lite and Coors Light home draft kegs. I am curious about the potential for using them for root beer. Any thoughts or has anyone tried this yet?

I haven't tried it - but it sounds like a great idea! If it works for beer, I don't see why it wouldn't work for root beer. Will you be using CO2 to carb it?

And you can buy Virgil's root beer in a small party keg. Virgil's is too something or other for me - and I'm more of a Dad's, Hire's, A&W, Stewart's, IBC, Dog 'N Suds kind of fan.

But I'm thinking if you can buy Root Beer by the party keg, you should be able to re-use the keg. Do you have a link to the information on re-using party kegs? That might be fun to look into.

There is supposed to be videos on YouTube about re-using these. The rest of the information I found on a beer brewing forum....mostly talks about how to remove the old CO2 cartridge, replace it, and using it as a portable keg. I think the CO2 is mainly a propellant, to move the liquid out. I am not sure if the liquid should be carbonated and then placed in the keg or carbonated after it is in the keg.

Virgil's definitely has a unique flavor...I think we are about on the same page for taste.
