I wouldn't ever consider myself a root beer expert, but I have had a good deal of root beer in my life, and 1919 root beer has alway stuck out. I can buy it at a local retaurant called lions tap up in Minnesota, but is like $5 for less then a can of pop. Also, I don't eat there all that often.

I can't find anywhere to buy this stuff, and I'm pretty sure you can only buy it in keg form.

If I were to buy a keg, how much would they cost, how long do they stay "good", and what do you guys think I should do? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You'd have to ask the brewer about the cost of a keg, and that would determine (IMHO) if it's worth it. In that form, and assuming it doesn't have anything to protect its life like most bottled soft drinks, it would probably last 3 - 6 months.

Yep, that's the only way to buy it. I would bet that they also do pony kegs.

I bought a growler of it from Famous Dave's in Kansas City, so it's a good chance they sell it at other locations, like ones in Minnesota where it's brewed.

find one that's near you and call and ask.

Stuffs not cheap though...I think I paid around 15 bucks for the filled growler, around 9 bucks for a refill. A growler will hold 64 oz.

August Schell Brewing Co. Sells this root beer only in the same distribution of its beer. If you go to their website schellsbrewery.com, you can email a request for their distributers list to fine the one closest to you. The company that actually owns this rootbeer is Arneson Distributing, (their wesite is under construction) and they contract with Schells to make it. 1919 is availiable from a distributer in a growler (poured from tap), a cardboard mini keg? that is just like getting boxed wine, quarter barrel keg, and half barrel keg. An excellent root beer made with real sugar and well worth the effort!

Hey, thanks for the help people. Funny thing is, not interested in 1919 anymore. I recently bought a $9.50 half gallon of 1919 at Lions Tap. BTW, Lions Tap is about 15-20 miles from Minneapolis. They continuously win major Minneapolis/Minnesota awards for their burgers which I must say are absolutely magnificent. I'm going to get Lions Tap tomorrow just because I'm thinking about it. Anyone who comes to Minnesota must go. Annnnyways. The 1919 was good, but I knew that there was better. Not worth getting a keg. I forgot about IBC and I was talking to a couple of people about Root Beer..both of which said IBC was their favorite. I traveled to 3 grocery stores and all 3 were sold out. lol. Then I went to Target Super store and actually found them cheaper @ $3 a 6 pack. I must say, wow. Lions Tap should really switch their trophy root beer. I bought 18 of them, and just drank 3 tonight. Probably will have to go back soon. Wow it is amazing.

IBC for the win.

If I ever get rich I will pay someone to fly Lions Tap to me if I live out of state.

I drank like 18 bottles in 5 days. I'm addicted to this stuff. I thought there was caffeine in it but I checked online, no caffeine.

You can buy IBC root beer at Sam's Club for $11.88 per case of 24.

I also enjoyed Lion's Tap.

I have about 50 different brands of Root Beer on hand if you make your way to NE Minneapolis ever. Drop me an email and I can give directions.
